US Federal Court: US Army Corps of Engineers liable for Katrina damageNovember 2009
Svašek Hydraulics succesfully supported the complaining party in the trial of the Katrina canal breaches with SWAN and FINEL2D modelling studies. The adjacent animation shows the calculated maximum internal flooding depths in the St. Bernard bowl as a consequence of the breaches and overtopping initiated by hurricane Katrina. The time frame of the animation is 7 hours on the morning of August 29, 2005.

Svašek Hydraulics has launched a FINEL website. The numerical models (based on the FINite ELement technique) are inhouse developed and can be used for the computation of shallow water flow and transport processes in rivers and coastal waters.
