On December 21th Mr. Ronald E. Waterman PhD has successfully defended his thesis "Integrated Coastal Policy via Building with Nature" at Delft University. The basis of his impressive work is the "Building with Nature" principle as developed by Mr. J.N. Svašek in the seventeis and eighties of the last century.

Bas van Leeuwen wins Wadden Academy Award for best MSc thesisDecember 2010
On December 8th Bas van Leeuwen won the Wadden Academy Award for his MSc thesis "Modeling mussel bed influence on fine sediment dynamics on a Wadden Sea intertidal flat".
Bas van Leeuwen is project engineer at Svašek Hydraulics since February 2008, following his graduation at the University of Twente (Civil Engineering and Management).

RoPES-JIP kick-offNovember 2010
On November 23 the RoPES-JIP kicked-off at the MARIN premises in Wageningen. So far, in this Joint Industry Project on the effects of passing ships on moored ships about 20 parties are involved. RoPES (Research on Passing Effects on Ships) is an initiative by Svasek, PMH, Marin and Deltares and is still open for new participants.

CHIDA Best Paper Award from CEDA Region Goes to Lynyrd de WitSeptember 2010
The Chinese Dredging Association (CHIDA) presented Best Paper Awards to four authors.
The Best Paper Award from the CEDA region was given to Lynyrd de Wit, employee at Svašek Hydraulics and and part-time PhD candidate at Delft University of Technology, the Netherlands, for his paper entitled "Near Field 3D CFD Modelling of Overflow Plumes".
Selected from amongst 30 CEDA papers, and written as part of a PhD study, Mr de Wit's paper, describes the 3D Computational Fluid Dynamics Model developed to solve the complicated turbulent whirling flow of a dredge plume under the keel of a TSHD.
