The stability of the sea defence in view of the morphological development of the channel system of the Western Scheldt and the reduction of the wave climate in the marina because of overtopping of the existing breakwater were topics in the design process.
Also the approval process of the apartment buildings in relation to the national policy on housing
projects outside the official sea defence and on collision risks by passing vessels was an important
aspect of this project.
