Groyne field computations

In the fluid mechanics laboratory of the Delft University of Technology measurements were carried out in a physical model of a groyne field. Flow velocities, water levels and turbulence were measured. Several groyne lay-outs were considered.

Similar to the measurements Svašek Hydraulics was asked to simulate the measurements with a 3D numeric hydrodynamic model called FINEL 3D. Thus without knowing the results of the measurements in the lab FINEL 3D was used to calculate several groyne lay-outs.
